About Mother Kelly
Mother Kelly is one of the hottest rock cover bands in the
Midwest today. The band is centered in and around North Central Oklahoma and
Southern Kansas. Mother Kelly consists of five hard-nosed, in-your-face rockers
with many years of combined experience, playing time tempered, butt kick ‘in,
rock’n’roll.
After awesome shows at the Poncan Theatre, in downtown Ponca City, the Mothers’
are building a large and loyal fan base around Kay County and the surrounding
area. The group has performed as the opening act for Southern rock band Molly
Hatchet and Kissmania, the Kiss tribute band. Mother Kelly has been receiving a
lot of attention and praise for the shows they have played not only at the
Poncan, but everywhere they perform.
The boys in the band have all been rockin’ since junior high school, and feel
that many years of playing experience, combined with the right mix of the best
musicians in the area, and the best sound men in the business, make Mother Kelly
a great band to listen to and party with. Mother Kelly was formed in the summer
of 2007 in North central Oklahoma.
Mother Kelly is:
Tommy Keith Jenkins – lead vocals, guitar, harmonica.
Mark and Tommy have played together since high school on the
local scene including Sunshine, Chilly Willy, Crash, Powerhouse, and Ezra.
Originally from Houston, Tommy has found a home in the Oklahoma music scene. As
a front man for many bands, Tommy’s on stage presence and scathing vocal range
are a sure crowd pleaser.
Mark Swenson – drums, vocals.
Mark is a product of the Oklahoma music scene, playing in
various bands such as Sunshine, Chilly Willy, Crash, and Ezra, and was under
contract with WKY radio, along with Tommy, playing gigs all across Oklahoma.
Mark’s steady rocking tempo and pounding percussion sets the pace for Mother
Kelly’s driving sound.
Gene Richardson – bass guitar, vocals.
Gene is from the Kansas area and spent many years playing with
Amplified Heat and Ash, before venturing off to the Dallas and Colorado music
scenes. Tommy and Gene have played together in several bands over the years.
There is nothing Gene can’t accomplish on the bass guitar and his backing vocals
are unmatched.
Fred Meek – guitar, vocals.
Fred grew up in the Arkansas City – Wichita, Kansas area and
has played with several bands over the years, most notably “Sass,” a power trio
in the Oklahoma-Kansas area. Fred’s precision guitar licks and vocal
contributions are unmistakable.
The four original members of Mother Kelly took some time off
from music in the late 80’s to mid 90’s to raise families and concentrate on
professional/business careers. They have formed Mother Kelly with a new found
enthusiasm, focusing on re-creating vocal and musical styling's of the artists
whose music they perform.
Their musical influences range from the Beatles, The Who, and Led Zeppelin to
Alice Cooper, James Gang, Alice in Chains, Buckcherry, Three Days Grace, Papa
Roach, Queen and Shinedown.
